Brian Laurenzo Reappointed to the Greater Des Moines Partnership Board
On December 17, 2010, Brian Laurenzo was reappointed by the Greater Des Moines Partnership Board of Directors to continue serving on the Executive Committee and as a Co-Chair of the Ad Hoc Regional Expansion Committee. Brian is a former Chair of the Partnership’s Government Policy Council and is also serving on the Steering Committee for the “Capital Crossroads” regional visioning initiative. He heads up the Intellectual Property Law Practice Group at Brick Gentry P.C.
Rush Nigut Interview on Insight On Business

Brick Gentry, P.C. Welcomes Robert L. Rafferty
Robert (Bob) L. Rafferty joined Brick Gentry P.C. in November 2010 as a shareholder. Bob served as President of the Rafferty Group, where he worked closely with elected and appointed government officials on strategic policy initiatives. Bob is a former chief of staff and Director of the Department of Management under Governor Terry E. Branstad. Bob previously served as a state legislator and practiced with the Stanley, Lande and Hunter P.C. in Davenport and Muscatine.
Bob’s focus will be in governmental relations, where his 19 years of experience working with both the executive and legislative branches of governments provides his clients invaluable and practical insight.
Wall St. Journal Features Rush on Business in Franchising Article
The Wall Street Journal recently featured Iowa Business and franchise attorney Rush Nigut’s blog, www.rushonbusiness.com, in The Journal Report on Franchising. The article also featured MyFranchiseLaw.com and Fox and Rothchild’s Franchise Law Update.
Nigut’s work in the franchise area include ongoing outside general counsel representation of The Pink Hippo, a local franchisor from Urbandale, Iowa and assistance with the drafting of Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) and franchise agreements. He also counsel franchisees with reviews of FDDs and franchise agreements and assists with the negotiation of the agreement.

Brick Gentry Attorney Selected for UNI Athletic Hall of Fame.
Brick Gentry congratulates Ken Butters who was recently selected by the University of Northern Iowa for inclusion in its Athletics Hall of Fame for football. Ken played football for UNI’s 1964 team that has the only bowl victory in school history. Ken is a litigation attorney with Brick Gentry and practices in the areas of contract and business law, business, construction and personal injury litigation, employment and real estate law.

Brick Gentry Welcomes Intellectual Property Attorney, Brad Thies
Brick Gentry, P.C. is excited to announce that intellectual property attorney, Brad Thies, has joined the firm as an associate effective June 30, 2010. Brad was most recently working as an attorney for the Powell Law Firm, P.C. in Norwalk.
Brad brings a tradition of diligent work and experience in patent, trademark, and copyright law. He received his law degree from Valparaiso University where he graduated with honors in 2007. In addition, Brad has earned degrees in business administration and physics. Brad is currently a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
