James E. Nervig
Shareholder
Jim Nervig is a shareholder of Brick Gentry P.C. He primarily works in the areas of real estate, tax sale law, tax assessment appeals, zoning, business law, estate planning, and civil and appellate litigation. Jim represents many clients in state and federal court, before administrative agencies, and in arbitration and mediation. For a number of years, Jim has prepared and presented seminars to attorneys, real estate professionals, municipal offices and other governmental officials on a variety of legal issues including zoning law, tax assessment appeals, eminent domain, tax sale procedures and real estate law. Before Jim joined the Firm in 2001, he was a partner and shareholder in the Des Moines law firm Petosa, Petosa, Boecker & Nervig where he worked for 13 years. Previous to this, he served for eight years as City Solicitor for Des Moines. Jim has written a number of manuals on legal topics, including Iowa Tax Sale Law, Iowa Real Property Assessment Law, Iowa Zoning Law and Special Statutes Relating to Rehabilitation of Vacant and Nuisance Properties. Current versions of each manual are available upon request.
