Steve Brick is a shareholder of Brick Gentry P.C. His practice primarily involves litigation and the representation of corporations, municipalities and counties across the state. Steve has litigated cases in the Iowa and Federal Courts; 8th Circuit Court of Appeals; Iowa Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. In addition, Steve has represented clients in contested cases before such agencies as the Iowa City Development Board, Work Force Development and Iowa Alcohol and Beverages.

For his governmental clients, Steve handles ordinance preparation, contract negotiation and preparation; property acquisition and eminent domain; annexation, development and economic development issues; ROW management, litigation, franchise, prosecutions and Council/Board proceedings. Steve has extensive experience in laws impacting governmental entities including but not limited to zoning, governmental immunity, open records, open meetings, constitutional claims and eminent domain.

For his business clients, Steve handles a variety of matters ranging from: forming business entities such as corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships; negotiating contracts, assisting with the purchase and sale of businesses; and entering in equity sales and/or joint ventures with outside parties.

Since being admitted to the bar in 1993, Steve has also represented numerous individuals in a variety of personal legal matters including, but not limited to, will preparation, real estate acquisition, personal injury, family law and several successful class actions.

Professionally, Steve is a member of the Iowa Municipal Attorneys Association, Iowa Association for Justice and the Iowa State Bar Association. In providing services to his clients, Steve believes that his clients are best served through education of the legal issues involved in their pursuit and their options at addressing the legal issues that exist in a given situation. "Lawyers need to strive to invest the time with clients to become a valuable part of the team with the organizations or individuals they represent, to take the time to understand the organizations' and clients' situations. I seek to counsel clients so they are aware of the legal issues, and I strive to assist them in achieving their goals in the most comprehensive and efficient manner."

In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and children and participating in a wide variety of water and snow sports.
